T.1 The Woodpecker and The Humours of Baile na bhFéad (jigs)

Jim learned the first tune from his father who learned it from Matthew Buchanan and Robert Sproule. This is a version of My Former Wife, number 110 in O’Neill’s Dance Music of Ireland (1906). The second tune came to Jim through his father who had learned it from Robert Sproule. A transcription of Proinseas Mac Suibhne’s playing of it as learned from Robert Sproule can be found in Songs of Uladh (1904).
