Tommy McHugh

Tommy McHugh of Ballymacahill was a fine fiddle player and cousin of Brendan McHugh, an accordion player and fiddler from Frosses. Donal Kelly recalls that Tommy used keep the little finger on this left hand raised high when playing, indicating that he never used it in the course of a tune. Small in stature, Tommy often performed in local dance halls and used play sitting on a chair that was placed on top of a table to give him extra prominence. Tommy’s son, Neilly also played the fiddle.
