Denis Gallagher (1889 – 1954)

Denis Gallagher, a fiddler, lived most of his life at Mín an Aoire where he was a close neighbour of Mick Carr. As a young man Denis emigrated to the USA along with his siblings but at some point he returned home where he tended to the farm. In later years Denis lost the power in his legs but managed to increase his mobility with the help of a small wooden cart. With the aid of the cart he managed to sow and dig a garden of potatoes, which was a considerable feat in itself. Denis donated his fiddle to Mick Carr before he passed away in 1954.
