Johnny, a brother of Patrick and Eddie Monaghan is remembered as a lively character who lived for traditional music and dance. Like Patrick, he was a melodeon player and for him, the essence of the music was the creation of a strong, steady rhythm. He played at house dances throughout the area with George Williamson and Charles Meehan among others. Johnny married Annie McGinley and their son, Brian still lives in Drimarone.
