Patrick McGroary

Patrick McGroary, or Patrick Jimmy Naugher as he was known locally was a left-handed fiddler from the townland of Meenaleck. He was highly regarded as a stone mason and used retrieve stone from the river bottom. This sandstone was much sought after as the steady river flow created an even and smooth surface. Patrick made two fiddles and sent one to his uncle in America. A good fiddler, he used walk over the Blue Stack mountains with Paddy McDyer to play at big nights in Glenfin.
