T.12 Síos a’ Béalach Mór, Suas a’ Béalach Ceatharnaigh (highland)

Jim starts this on what is usually the second part of the tune. Jim hadn’t a name for the tune and the title here is that used for the tune in the Croaghs. It derives from the strathspey, Stewart’s March, or more commonly in Scotland as Kafoozalum, a corruption of the Scots’ Gàidhlig, Cia Phosadh Leum?which translates as ‘who will marry me?. A number of songs are sung to this tune.
