Maggie O’Gara

Maggie, the younger sister of Maureen was also a fine fiddle player in her early years. According to her brother Eddie, she played reels such as Miss McLeod’s and Drowsy Maggie, along with many tunes that she learned from her father, Denis. She followed her sister into the nursing profession in the United Kingdom but later married and settled in Tasmania, Australia. She makes regular long distance telephone calls to her family in Ireland and the United Kingdom and although she left Donegal in the late 1930’s, she has never forgotten about the music tradition of Gleann Cholmcille.
